SCI performed sturctural engineering services for a multidiscipline team for the Valencia Bridge at the Pantano Wash. The project design initiated in 2004. Substantial completion of the superstructure and substructure designs was completed prior to the project being shelved by the developer. In 2014, project design was restarted; structural design criteria changed significantly including roadway section, hydraulic requirements, substantial AASHTO Bridge Design Guidelines updates, etc. SCI’s scope of work expanded to include superstructure LRFR and LFR load rating analysis; substructure redesign for updated hydraulic and check flood criteria; and revision of design documents incorporating the established design changes.
Final raodway and bridge structure design were completed in 2018. The bridge was ultimately constructed in 2020.
