The firm performs analysis, design, evaluation and investigations of new and existing structures for transportation, civil infrastructure, bridges, industrial and mining facilities, commercial and private buildings. SCI also performs structural special inspections for many project types.
SCI is seeking a pro-active, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and experience in structural special inspections. Candidate would work independently and under the direction of the Lead Special Inspector or Principal Engineer/Project Manager. Responsibilities will include performing special inspections and observations, drafting special inspections reports, and communicating observations to project contacts, the Lead Special Inspector, and / or Principal Engineer. Candidate must be familiar with governing codes and be able to understand and navigate structural, architectural, and civil drawings. When not performing inspections, the individual will support engineers and office staff with construction phase services and project coordination.
• 2+ years experience as a special inspector or 8+ years experience in the construction of concrete and masonry structures
• Current certification for ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade 1
• Certification for ICC Reinforced Concrete is preferred
• Certification for ICC Structural Masonry is preferred
• Understanding and application of the governing codes ( IBC, ACI, TMS, etc. )
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• Familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, PDF viewers and revision software
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
